Jelly Babies

Four months ago we had to do a reacher on horror film convention and on friday our teacher set each group a task to create a hour film using the jelly babies that where given to us and we had to use the horror film convention to create our horror, therefore the jelly babies where used as people, in this horror we had to make sure we used all the convention such as sound, costume, camera, setting and characters.

Settings: Horror films are usually set in dark isolated areas with a sense of morbidity.
This can include large cities and ghost town so without a good setting a horror will always flop

sound:ambient diegetic is essential in horror films, music that is climatic is often used to build up tension and non diegetic is used to scare the audience. also they use silent sound to build attention to the audience

camera angle/ shots: must of the horror films tend to use high and low angles because it connotate or shows nightmares, the POV allow audience to see through the characters eyes therefore, themselves or imagining themselves in the films.

character: in all horror film there is usually a form of here which must embark on a form of mission to kill or solve problem.
The role is mostly undertaken by male but from times it can be a female, there are stereo typically in all horror films. the same characters tempt to appear in nearly every horror films such as blonde they are often represented as being stupid and often dies first and the virgin are usually the only character that survives because they represent purity.

costumes: The costumes in horror films tend to be dark to keep in style with the piece or film. for the costumes they usually use darker colours such as black, red etc to represent evil in the film on the other hand white sometimes comes into play.

Past horror Film Opening

for the horror film opening I have learnt that they are so many different areas in the introduction that are important in the assessment criteria for the horror video such as using mise en scene for effect to fit in with your convention, your editing should have meaning are they should be a clear meaning and varied camera angles to create meaning. therefore watching the previous horror film opening many student followed the assessment criteria for their opening, however I have learnt that all horrored film opening doesn't necessary need to have someone screaming or someone dying right at the start meaning by using mise en scene example a knife or a dangerous element can actually make the opening look like a horror film.
also I have learnt that you should mostly avoid filming out side because of the noise unless you had to.
I thought "Sacred " opening film was actually interesting because at the start it just looked like a normal film however you could tell from the sound that something was going to happen

Animatic Feedback

Animatic feedback

In this task I had to present our animatic video from YouTube to my classmates and my teacher to get some feeds back, the animatic that i have presented is the opening of our horror movie.
Based on the the feeds back I have received from my class mates: chantelle said that the sound that we used for our animatic was good and it was suitable for the animatic overall we got some good feeds back from all of them and they all said our animatic intro looked like an horror movie, also our teacher gave us some good comment she said our animatic was good.

Prezi feedback

when me and my team promoted our prezi presentation we got some crucial feedback from  some students,  for instant we got a feed back from a student name Gabriella had told us that, we had created an excellent story line because majority of horror films create storylines with drunk couples and then someone getting killed especially how the killer is someone who you least expects.

Then Kristal gave us some  good feedback which  I think we did not focus on very much we was deciding that we would pretend to be drunk because we are coming from a party however although she said it was a good presentation how would we be able to show the drunkenness within the scene even though we might be able to act drunk will the rest of the cast that we want to include be able to act drunk and play the part we need them to. She said this because it would could come off as a comedy instead of a horror and tension and suspense we want to build will not be there. we thought this was good feedback because if we never heard that I don't believe that we would have noticed and we would of got low marks.

Another student had said that the presentation was okay however it seemed to her and a few others that to much of the film was in the introduction and because it's the introduction will we actually be having anything else to make it seem that way and so we decided that the boy who is one of the main characters would go around killing everyone who gets on his nerves but each death would be more gruesome than the next one. Everyone agreed this would be a great idea

Chantelle had said the same thing as Ashley however she changed a part of it but because it can be filmed within in 30 seconds what are we going to include to make it more interesting. So she suggested that we show a short clip of us in a bedroom having the party and showing the girlfriend pissing off her boyfriend giving him a reason to go around killing her and everyone else then wipe to everyone going home through Clapham Common park at night then the rest of the scene we had created on our own.

Joanna had said that we should think of a better ending so that the killer wouldn't get suspected she said that we should make the boyfriend go to the group of friends and say he is walking his girlfriend home because she is too drunk but then he kills her and tells everyone he doesn't know what happened because he dropped her to the bottom of the road but had to leave because his mum said he needed to come home, we have decided to include this as well because we thought it would be very interesting to see what the audience would think and the effect it would have on them.

When we had got feedback from the pupils in the class our teacher pointed something out that we had completely forgot. When the boyfriend kills the girl he uses a knife and because we are of a certain age how would we do that without getting caught or arrested so we said we would go to the party shop in Clapham Junction and buy a fake one then only take it out and use it when needed.

from all the feedback me and my team decided to take those feedback into consideration because we think it will helps us get a good grade which I thank all my mates for giving us all this feedback which will help us when creating our storyboard

preliminary task

Preliminary Task

For my preliminary task my media teacher gave us a task to create a shot scene by putting us into groups of three , from that one person from each group were given a responsibility to look after the camera while they were filming and each group were given different types of words such as fear etc.

Base on this task I have learnt that creating a storyboard is helpful because it allowed me to draw out the types of shots that I wanted . By doing this it allows me to write down the types of shots I would use such as match on action, close up etc and also explaining what was happening.  Using storyboard made our task much easier because it helps us arrange and put our ideas together into one scene.  What I have learnt is that storyboard might be easy but thinking of what types of shots you need can be a little hard because me and my group had to do ours again because we didn't have or use the shots that were given to us and I have also learnt how to remove unwanted scenes and cut out section from a scene.
