sound:ambient diegetic is essential in horror films, music that is climatic is often used to build up tension and non diegetic is used to scare the audience. also they use silent sound to build attention to the audience
camera angle/ shots: must of the horror films tend to use high and low angles because it connotate or shows nightmares, the POV allow audience to see through the characters eyes therefore, themselves or imagining themselves in the films.
character: in all horror film there is usually a form of here which must embark on a form of mission to kill or solve problem.
The role is mostly undertaken by male but from times it can be a female, there are stereo typically in all horror films. the same characters tempt to appear in nearly every horror films such as blonde they are often represented as being stupid and often dies first and the virgin are usually the only character that survives because they represent purity.
costumes: The costumes in horror films tend to be dark to keep in style with the piece or film. for the costumes they usually use darker colours such as black, red etc to represent evil in the film on the other hand white sometimes comes into play.
